Posting from iphone

This app for blogging with wordpress is really cool. I bet a lot of people use it very resourcfully.

I’d like to see more stuff like this done on peoples phones. For instance I really like how people can record and upload footage with their phone straight to YouTube.

MAKE YOUR URL tiny

If you uploaded your website assignment to a free website hosting service similar to me, then your URL might be long and goofy, Check out http://tiny.cc its really easy, you simply enter your site url in and it spits out a tiny url like this; My original URL was http://users.tpg.com.au/foxnet/ (which still works) and after 2 seconds at tiny url its now http://tiny.cc/STONeFEST simple!

altho, i dont think anyone else will be able to use stonefest, i seem to have been the first, heheh, but stonefestSOMETHING im sure will do fine, or atleast if u want to create a new website after this assignment.

I came across this website TubeChop, which allows you to find a youtube video and chop a section, it will then make that section into another video and hosts it on http://www.tubechop.com/watch/14347 I posted a video link into this post as an example, it was a 2 minute long video and i chose this bit. the potiental for this site is huge, im suprised its not more popular.

Website URL

I chose to do the Stone fest website

the url is http://tiny.cc/STONeFEST

Thanks for this assignment, i was hesitant at first, but really enjoyed it in the end. I decided to stick with a simple layout as it was really my first time building a website, I enjoyed producing artwork for the site, but most of all i enjoyed researching all the different services and programs that you can take advantage of with a website, there is so much more i want to explore with other websites in the future.

One thing i focused on with this website was finding tools that would create features for me, and customizing the features to suit my website, unfortunately i didn’t really utilities all the potiental that this concept offers, i only used 3 different services from google which are, a google Search engine, google chat, google ads and of course videos and maps.

I highly advise you to check out www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ It has alot of help and tutorials on getting your website noticed and to show up in search results. i managed to effectively get my site to show up in google, but so far it will only show up if you type in “foxnet+tpg” which sadly has nothing to do with stonefest, but hopefully i will figure this part out soon enough, it probably has something to do with Sitemap (which according to google will take hours to take effect) so perhaps when everyone starts checking out everyone Else’s website it will be working.

I’m looking forward to building other websites in the future and i am looking into buying a domain at www.melbourneit.com.au .

p.s one thing i would like to add that is not visible at all on the website is that i added a sitemap and submitted it to google.

I was hesitent to get into Web Design and Production, but after  completing the website assignment i have been inspired to create my own. The creation process was pretty fun, i was not that interested in learning how to code but the tutorials and tools to create features for your website that were available online were very useful.

i currently am experiementing with layouts and ideas for a website at http://users.tpg.com.au/foxnet/internetvideoguide/

I was thinking of having a small list of places that offer free videos like youtube, but more specifically good channels that have good ‘webesodes’ for example one that ran for a small while was a parody on some street magic dude this video is called ‘David Blane: street magic’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYxu_MQSTTY

also, channel Nine website offer episodes of Underbelly for free and there are some easy free software you can download which has IPTV, like VLC player that is a powerful little video player and if you are connected to the Internet it has an option in ‘Playlist>Additional sources> shoutcast tv listings’  there are a few other sources in that list but they are french, shoutcast tv listings streams episodes of Family guy, Futurama, news channels like fox news and other channels not available on free to air tv, the software is legitimate and has a website just, i dont intend to link to illegal stuff, the whole point is to promote free stuff. In addition i would probably offer some sort of review but not to in depth, but of course i probably wont have many crap video links on my site, maybe some for laughs.

at the start of the semester i posted about Windows Live Writer, a tool to use with most popular blogging sites including WordPress.com, it downloads the interface and features and then applys it into the applications interface, anyway after using it for about 3 posts i stopped because it turned out that while i would have Live Writer open, i would still go to the wordpress.com website to few settings and other things that seemed like they werent available in writer or thy were annoying to use, plus the preview option on writer was bad, it was not accurate.

so in hein site i recommend using the UI the blogging service gives you via the website, or if you find a blogging client that works well let me know!

p.s i changed my header, it used to be on ‘myst’ a wordpress header, but i made this one, its kinda cool but wordpress puts the black line at the bottom which i dont like.

Check out the website so far, it has some pages and some text, keep checking back its almost done, and the other bits are almost ready to upload.

website url http://users.tpg.com.au/foxnet/
I know its a strange URL, its the website space my ISP gives us, so i thought i might aswell use it since we pay for it.

enjoy!

website design update

Google Search bar

Google Search bar

This search bar will display its results on another STONeFEST 08 page, that will still have the menu at the top allowing the user to use the search result and open a new window and continue to navigate through the stonefest website.

pic1I have almost finished my website,

i have made two significant updates of which im a bit proud of hehehe, I found that with google, they offer many services which you can embed into your website like google search and google maps i implemented google search into the main webpage of my site, and a google map to help find directions to UC and to find parking at UC and around UC like westfield mall, and routes to walk from the mall to UC.

This assignment has inspired me to create my own new website, an Internet-Video Guide.

I have finally setteld on a Menu graphic design, i basicly ran with a keyword from the stonefest website, Stone. I had some other ideas like to create some stones that would have holes in them in a circle patern sort of like some speakers.

here is a picture of the final design

Menu Graphic

Menu Graphic

This graphic will sit at the top of the website and each sub-page on the site, and serve as the main menu.

Adobe Photoshop and autodesk maya were used to create the stones, I felt using Maya ( a 3d application) and its advanced lighting ability would give the sense of depth and 3d perception in the shadows on the rocks that i wanted. set is astheticly pleasing and simple in design. clear and precise,

i do not like drop down menus unless neccesary, complex menus and lists are not for a musical event webpage and that should be nice and simple.

Here is an update on the menu bar or interface for my stonefest website

Still some work needs to be done to this using photoshop. I created these Stones in 3D, using a 3 point lighting setup, it took about an hour to make and another hour or so to play around with, i have changed it about 20 times since i ‘finished’ it, and i probably will change it again, something is missing, and the lighting is not quite right, it still looks a bit flat.
